Stiffer Yarn But Washes Beautifully
I've purchased One Pound Yarn many, many times before but they must have changed it as the Dark Grey Mix that I purchased was very stiff. It made for a very inflexible scarf, even after I washed it. However, it was PERFECT for the small tote bag that I crocheted to match the scarf (both of which I was able to make from the single skein). So, if you're looking for a substantial yarn for a heavy wear project like a tote bag or a rug this is perfect, but if you want it for a hat or scarf it's rather inflexible. The yarn, no matter the project, washes up beautifully in the washing machine and dried perfectly in the dryer.
4Really good value for the money
I am using this product to crochet a scarf. I have used other yarns in this particular brand before, and have always been satisfied. The color is beautiful, just as I expected. It is easy to work with and does not Ravel.
5The color I recieved was lighter like a shade of lavender
I am very unhappy with this yarn. The first time I used it was over a year ago, and I had no intention of using it again. Though I am a Red Heart loyalist, they did not have the color combo that I was searching for, but Caron did. Or so it appeared that way. The purple that is advertised is very dark, the shade of purple I need. The color I recieved was lighter like a shade of lavender. So, I bought a pound of yarn that will not be used, at least for a while, and have to start my search all over again for the right shade of purple for my project. You are probably wondering, "Why don't you just send it back?" That is an excellent question that has an excellent answer... I am a yarn hoarder. I cannot in good conscience part with yarn once it is in my possession. I am just really aggravated over the setback.
Used this brand of yarn for a latch hook rug a while back, excellent quality. Texture is great, not too soft or silky (durability issues) and not too hard (roughness issues). Also the price is excellent.
5skein contained cuts and knots
I ordered 4 skeins, the first I discovered after utilizing half had cuts every other wrap of the skein, plus knots in the long strand. I was too far along to pull and try another skein, so I kept going using my skills to make corrections. The subsequent used skein is fine.
I have never paid $18.00 for a 1 pound skein of yarn. It says (4) ... very misleading and will never buy from again! 1 pound of yard is never worth $18! Normally, a pound is about $6.00. WOW ... rip off! I could see if it's a popular color or in demand, which is neither. My mistake for not reading it properly, hopefully someone else will learn by my mistake!!
1Amount of yarn differs.
I bought this in blue and black to crochet a double threaded rug. It's working well, I do like this yarn, but I discovered there is lots of blue left over. This is the second time I have experienced this using the one pound skeins. As much as I use this yarn and do enjoy it for my projects that need to be a bit on the tough side, I can't give it more that 3 stars for not being more accurate in the amount of yarn each skein contains.
I ordered three different colors of this yarn in three separate orders. The yarn from the first two orders was as expected and received with the Caron label intact and sealed in plastic. The third, however arrived with no label and no plastic cover so it wasn't even clear if it was Caron yarn. It also appeared much more work than the previous two skeins of yarn.
3I liked that it wasn t hard to start
I liked that it wasn t hard to start. When I pulled on the inner piece of yarn the middle part came out and wasn t tangled. The skein was easy to work with. I have tried other yarns but Caron s is the best. I made 4 large blankets. I soaked the blanket when done in water with hair conditioner for an hour .Doesn t have to be expensive . Found on the internet. Washed on gentle cycle and dried on low.
5An excellent yarn for its price point
I knit a lot for charity. Since recipients are unknown to me, I try to stick to neutral colors. There are lots of decidedly feminine blankets knit but not so much is done for men and boys. I think this color works for males and females. So does off-white and hunter green, both colors available in this brand. This is a "true" worsted weight. It's a bit rough while you're working with it, but nothing horrible. After finishing a project, I soak it overnight in a bucket with a couple of cups of white vinegar and water. Dump out water and wash with laundry detergent on hot water cycle. Dry with a fabric softener sheet. Comes out lovely and soft.
