Customer Reviews

Only worked for a few weeks These earphones worked great.... till they didn't.I was in the middle of editing a recording a few weeks after my purchase when the sound suddenly went out. I checked the inputs and the cord and nothing was wrongThen I adjusted the input by pressing down and the sound came back. I released it and it went away.Spent 20 minutes trying to see if could get the sound to stay on without having to press down and no dice.I plugged in a set of regular earphones and they worked just find and I was able to complete the project. So I give it 3 stars for working for awhile, but they lasted a little less than month and now I have to purchase another set.** UPDATE ** The seller contacted me after I wrote this review and offered to ship the next level up of headphones at no cost.I accepted the offer and the earphones arrive shortly after. I've used the earphones for a few days now and they seem to work well. These also have detachable cords so if the cord gets messed up it can be replaced. So consider me a satisfied customer now. 3Great At This Price Point Out of the box these headphones are flat across ranges as they match their 'monitor' description. After an hour of heavy bass playback the 45mm magnets loosen up the cones to become more bass responsive (All Is Full Of Love or Hunter - Bjork and no I did not listen to them during that hour of bass break-in at a higher volume) . Clarity in mids area very acceptable, highs seem to turn harsh at higher volume. Staging is present (any echoes or live recordings are represented well enough). Presence is more above your head than in it.Only the largest ears would be a problem inside the earcups. At a 7 1/4" hat size, I have no problem with fit and comfort. I could see where the leather earcups (and leather head band) feel warm but that is better than felt or 'pleather' (fake leather) breaking done over time. The scale on the adjustable bands is a nice touch. Leakage is slight only for a person next to you to hear. Sealing outside sounds is good enough.About a 6' cord with 1/8" plug (including a 1/4" adapter) comes out the left side cup. With stainless steel sliders and aluminum covers, these headphones do not have the plastic feel or clank others do. 5At this price point, definitely 5 stars! OK. First let me get something out of the way. This is my second pair of these headphones. The first ones came a few days ago and the right side was dead on arrival. Annoying? Yes. But at this price, more often than most things, it's quality control and consistency that are lacking and so I was not totally surprised. Today I got my replacement (thanks Amazon!) and out of the box they sound fantastic! Should I have taken a star off? I'll leave that up to you. I'm cool with 5-stars.I needed a second set of monitoring headphones to use at my desk outside of my recording booth so I wasn't having to drag my Sony's back and forth. I didn't want to spend much, and these fit the bill. I'm happy with the sound and the overall feel of the headphones. About one in ten headphone--if that--feel comfortable on my apparently oddly shaped head, and these are more comfortable than I expected. I don't hear and creaking or cracking when I twist them up a bit, and they fit snug but comfortable.I was also pleasantly surprised by the ear pads.. They fit my larger ears better than most. That said, I will still replace them soon with some larger and higher quality ones. I think the standard ones will work for most people, but if you have these on your head for hours at a time, you will need to figure out what works best for you.As a side note, some people have said you cannot replace the ear pads. This is one of those things many people don't know how to do until they know how to do it, if you know what I mean. :) For those who do not, you need to focus *not* on the threaded seam, but on the edge slightly outside that seam. That is where you pull the ear pads off. Be gentle and you will soon figure it out.Anyways, these look like the could be one of those rare cheap but awesome products. Of course, after quality control and consistency, longevity is the bane of these kinds of products. If mine crap out I will try to update this review. 5Pretty Okay for Cheap Headphones First lets be clear. No matter what some reviews may imply, these are not high quality phones. The cord is long but it is also a lot thinner than I expected. The phones also feel pretty light and cheap. The ear pads are not horrible, but they do a get a little warm and uncomfortable pretty quickly. The response seems pretty flat on most of the recordings I have listened to. The sound isolation is fairly decent. To be fair, I just got these today so time may tell differently. I bought them to use when recording music, so I will add any additional thoughts depending on how it goes. My other headphones are open back Grado headphones which may be why I am little biased regarding the sound so far. But hopefully these will be a lot better suited for recording. In the picture, the Grado cord is on the left and the LyxPro on the right. 3Biggest Bang for your Buck I bought these originally just to help keep my noise level down when I moved in with a few other guys. I play games, do some audio editing, play guitar, watch videos/TV, and listen to a lot of music so I was looking for headphones that would deliver a little bit of everything. I have yet to be disappointed by the quality of sound delivered.Quality 4.5-Treble: 5- Mids: 5- Bass: 4They sound amazing when playing Batman Arkham Knight just FYIOverall they are relatively comfortable. The padding allows them to be worn for hours at a time no problem. I do have a large head though, so sometimes the compression can be a little uncomfortable. They don't leak a lot of sound out and I can't hear my roommates watching TV right next to me either, so everyone wins! The cable is also really long which makes it ideal for playing guitar, and having it hooked up to an amp. And it does come with the 1/4" adapter.Really I don't think you will be able to find something as good as this for the same price. I paired mine with Behringer's 5-channel mixer (Behringer XENYX502 5-Channel Mixer) to be able to mix my guitar, and PC output while having fine controls over the output to my headphones and it makes for an excellent combo. 5Pure sound - nothing "cheap" - but a true bargain! Shockingly - @ US$ 40 (!!??) these cans are a total delight - easily comparing with SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive headphones in both sound & build. There is nothing here that is reminding you of the price point except the non detachable cable that hopefully will become a feature in a future PLUS version. Although not burned in yet, my Lynx Pro HAS 10 producing true, pure sound eliminating virtually all outside noise. Cristal clear, responsive BS free reproduction no pushed bass, surround or treble. Please note: I moved from premium high end gear to MP3 recordings consequently less costly headphones do better by default. But these are disturbingly good and highly recommended. 1 Yard of speaker cable in my stereo system was more expensive than these headphones!! I believe these are MOST suitable for people that do their own recordings and need real sound and for fans that like classical music or folks on a budget that just want good headphones without spending a fortune. And yes, they are pretty comfortable, too!I completed the set with Sentey Universal Headset-headphones Carrying Hard Case Travel Bag from Amazon for $ 12.99 just right in size.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I4XZ0S2?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 5Phenomenal value, if you re patient It probably would ve helped if I actually read the reviews, as the overwhelmingly positive reviews set some high expectations (but at $50, I did reserve some room for judgment). That said, my ratings are pretty literal, so product that is just fine, or inline with expectations will get a 3/5, 4/5 is good or above expectations, and 5/5 is phenomenal, whilst a 2/5 has flaws, 1/5 is outright disappointment or bad; my 3/5 is most peoples 5/5. So, this is a favourable review these actually impressed me in the end, but due to the break-in caveat, not enough for a 5-star review. That said first impressions out of the box review would ve squarely landed a 2/5. These are ultimately going to replace my Sennheiser HD 558 s, which may be unfair to the LyxPro HAS-15 s, replacing a $130 ($180 MSRP) pair of headphones with a $50 pair from an unknown brand, but the rubber structure that reduces tension on the cable at the junction (I don t know the terminology; detensioner?) on my Sennheiser s is getting brittle, and breaking, thus more tension on the cable so its days are numbered (in my experience, a usually within 2 months). I was really disappointed since I ve been able to replace other components and have kept these headphones for a number of years, and it has sentimental value being my first venture into high-end audio (from a time when it was unfathomable to spend more than $20 on headphones); but it s a permanently fixed cable, and I don t trust my soldering skills. Since I ve had them for so long, my collection has expanded, and I primarily used them at work. So the hunt was on for an inexpensive circumaural headphone with a standard detachable cable to use at work. In comes the LyxPro HAS-15. Can I replace an apple with an orange? The unboxing experience was amazing visually, but left a lot to be desired in terms of material. Personally, I don t care for boxing materials, but these made a point to impress: there was a leather carrying case on top, and a seemingly silk-like, plush pillow bed that held the headphones themselves. Upon picking up the bag, I was instantly disgusted at the thin plastic feel as I ve used freezer zip-lock bags with more material, and that silk pillow bed was a cheap cloth wrapped over a thin cardboard structure. It was a very balling on a budget feel again the materials don t bother me, but it was the deceit that rubbed me the wrong way. If these were in a nondescript brown cardboard box, and black cloth carrying bag instead of a cheap faux-leather, I would have been more impressed. The headphones themselves were oddly reminiscent of my Audio-Technica ATH-M50 a very similar looking design, with the cups and metal band. These were also lighter not sure if from aluminium cup shell, or lack driver robustness it was a toss up as to whether they ll be remarkably well made that will endure, or a cheap knock-off; maybe both? Given the unboxing experience was already pretending something it wasn t, what should have been a confidence inspiring design has planted even more doubt. The silver-lining is the cable was even more standard than I thought a simple with 3.5mm jack on both ends without any fancy locking mechanisms, unlike the ATH-M50s.With that sour taste out of the way, it was time to test what I ultimately came here for: the sound. And it was bad. I mean really bad had I become spoiled by my unhealthy can collection with the likes of AKG, Audio-Technica, and Sennheiser? Shouldn t be, as I ve been impressed with the $5 Venture Electronics Monk Plus earbuds, and a number of Koss products. I threw on my favourite viking folk song (R n by SK LD) and was utterly disappointed: the lows lacked the punch I d expect from a closed back design with the drum lacking any sort of thump, and vocals were just muddy. So I plug it in to my Amp/DAC, and use the hardware bass boost to compensate, and it did help with the punch, but did nothing for the muddy vocals and that s a deal-breaker. So in desperation, I check the reviews and saw these need to be broken-in. So, I plug them into my old Android phone, and let it shuffle my library for 24 hours. Try again, and it got worse!? I reconnect the cable and voila!: a sound signature comparable to to your $100+ cans. I must ve jostled the cable loose while moving the phone about during break in. The sound is much better than I had originally expected, albeit the signature was a little warm. Not a problem personally, in fact, a warmer signature is often desired for end-user listening, but it s not what I would expect from a monitoring headphone that is clearly slapped on each can a monitor needs to have a neutral flat signature to pick up on complexities throughout the spectrum - another example of pretending to be something it isn t.And I guess that s my ultimate gripe with these: from the very first moment, the HAS-15 pretends to be something it isn t. It s a shame because taken for what they are they are super impressive: a no-frills entry level closed-back headphone, and these are phenomenal. I wouldn t go as far as saying they are 90% of what you d get from an ATH-M50, but I agree with the sentiment the sound from the HAS-15 undoubtedly punches well above its asking price after break-in. But you have to be patient for them to shine: either deal the subpar sound and wait for it age like wine with normal use, or dedicate the time/device to break-in. That s a perfectly reasonable ask at the price. But these insist on appearing to be this ultra-premium product--nay, a professional tool, when it just isn t really soured the experience at every time. It just shoots itself in the foot by trying to set such high expectations that it can t up to. But at the end of the day, these are more than capable of being a solid headphone for at work listening, and a truly good product for what it actually is. And for what it is, it exceeds my expectations. 4/5. 4Fantstic build and sound quality for this price I am thoroughly impressed by these headphones at this price point. I've had many pairs of more expensive headphones and just really wanted something to keep permanently at my home PC and not spend so much. What attracted me initially to these is the build quality. These are built like they should cost $150.00 not $40.00. I've owned a pair of Audio Technica ATH-M50's and they are very similar to the construction of those. In fact I sold those because they were not comfortable on me for some reason. The LyxPro are very sturdy, have a nice thick cord that's perfect in length for an office set up, they are extremely comfortable for me. The ear foam is very soft and they fit nicely over my ears. They do as good of job as any others for noise suppression . I don't care much about packaging reviews, but they arrived in a box and it wasn't damaged....I think when reading reviews on audio products, and headphones in this case, there's a couple of very important factors to keep in mind as to who's writing the review. First off, headphones, and all speakers have a "break in" period before they will sound correctly. The cones outer suspension ring needs to become flexible and compliant, which it is not when brand new. These are no different than any others I've purchased, they kind of sounded like poo straight out of the box, but that's not important. I got the headphones 3 days ago and have had them playing non-stop for the entire time since I received them, so I'm at like maybe 55-60 hours right now. I simply had my playlist repeating at a fairly high volume, and never turned my computer off. Each day they sounded better and better, and today they are most likely what is a real listening experience. The second factor when reading a review, is what equipment or device is being used and, what file types or quality is being listened too. I'm an audio lover and I'm using a Foobar2000 player with CD's ripped to FLAC lossless format. I'm playing the headphones through an Audio Engine D1 DAC-headphone amp. So, I feel I'm going to get the most out of them.So as far as the sound quality goes they are fantastic! The people that say there's no bass are dull or have no imaging have probably reviewed them straight from the box. They are just a little flat on the high's but have some real good punch on the bottom end. I've included a screen shot with this review of my player to show the EQ and what I've adjusted. I've settled on mostly flat, but with a slight increase on the top end (I've got some hearing issues and don't hear high frequencies so great and that my be why) and I've also just kicked the bass a bit, but not for all songs, there are songs that I leave the EQ flat, but always have the highs adjusted up. In a perfect world for an "audiophile" an EQ wouldn't be used, but we aren't dealing with high end stuff here, and I fully expected to adjust some, but am surprised at how little they need. The vocals are very clean and are probably the highlight, but with a little increase on the highs and what's showing up now after hours of play time, they are crisp and bright. The bass is real punchy and clean. Acoustic guitar's and piano's sound very good and accurate and crisp. No, they do not image or sound as open and airy as some of the more expensive pairs, but they are a closed cup design and that contributes to anything you listen to. Vocals recorded in a proper studio have a nice open room filling feel to them. They perform better at at low volumes than I expected still having the presence of that nice bass response. At moderately high volume they perform well, but if pushed to very high volumes they kind of fall apart and get a bit mid-range dominant. As a whole, are they as good or better than most expensive brands? No they're not. But I can say they sound about 90% of my Audio Technica's that I paid $125.00 for. They are more than I expected, and are very enjoyable to listen too. They are not fatiguing on the ears after long periods of listening, which is my first sign of how clean and clear they are, from my experience. I've been at my desk most of the day and have had them on for about 6 hrs and they still are comfortable and enjoyable. So, the bottom line is if you don't want to spend a lot, these are a great value. I couldn't say how they would perform with itunes or compressed mp3's on your phone. I would expect to loose lots of quality due to the obvious music compression and lack of power of a small device. My Audio Engine D1 DAC was designed and built for one job, to make audio as good as possible, a phone well also does many other things too. I'm completely satisfied with the purchase and expect to use them a lot. And would recommend them to anyone looking for a solid budget product that performs better than it should. 5Excellent sound quality Highly recommend this product. I was sort of skeptical because of the low amount of reviews, but after receiving my pair, my doubts went away. The noise-cancelling feature is pretty good, especially for the price. It can be toggled on and off with a switch. The sound quality is very high, and is very clear. If you re listening to music, you can hear every detail of the song. If you re looking for a high quality Bluetooth headset for a fair price, this would definitely be the one for you.One thing I noticed, though, is that the headset is very tight. However, if you put them onto something fairly wide, and leave them for a day or two, they ll stretch out. The first day I wore them, they hurt my ears from the tightness. However, they re working fine now! 5Awesome quality for the price! They are warm to wear for a length of time, as you would expect. But they sound good, with a wide frequency response range. And they isolate sounds well... really well! I was sitting in the living room with my wife while mixing down some audio, with the volume down and not loud at all. My wife sent me a text because she had spoken to me 3 times and I didn't hear her.Note that these had a long, straight cable and come with an adapter so you can plug into either 1/4" or 1/8" jacks. Also there is no volume control or microphone... these aren't earbuds, people - they are professional sounding headphones.I'd buy them again. 5
